Today the news is Iraq. Way to go, Iraq. What a proud and strong people to stand up and protest when you were being told not to, when you were being threatened and attacked by your own political leaders, when some religious leaders were telling you to stay home, etc. Iraqis stood up. So let me applaud them.
Many were silent as Iraqi stood up. C.I. notes that in the snapshot and Jason Ditz (Antiwar.com) notes it as well:
It is noteworthy that the Obama Administration has been entirely mum on the Iraqi crackdown, particularly as the US still has some 50,000 troops in Iraq to back up the Maliki-led regime. One can at least be relieved that the US troops were not directly involved in any of today’s crackdowns, but if the protests in Iraq continue to escalate as they have elsewhere in the region, one wonders how long it will be before the regime requests their help in “controlling” the upsurge of pro-democracy protesters.
I'm going to post a video.
I would like the video a lot better if it was aware that US troops remain in Iraq. For someone who promised the first thing he would do is remove Iraqi troops, Barack Obama is a much bigger liar than that video notes.
I just took it out. I'm not posting whores, I'm not promoting them. I saw too many liars. I saw SG, for example, who is lying dirty whore. And that's a common opinion of SG. I'm not promoting it.
I was going to promote IVAW's event today but can't find any story on it. Did they hold their press conference today? If so, no one reported on it. Maybe they should have streamed it online? I went to the website this morning thinking they would. They didn't.
Going to get sushi, have a great weekend!
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
