Vice
President JD Vance got a brutal fact check from the Washington Post's
Glenn Kessler Tuesday over his latest claim about Social Security
benefit fraud being tackled by tech billionaire Elon Musk's Department
of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task force.
“You
look at people who are 150 years old who are fraudulently collecting
Social Security payments," said Vance in a Fox News interview last week,
quoting a debunkedclaim Musk makes about dead people getting benefits.
He then made a new and even grander claim.
"You
see our Social Security system — 40 percent of the people who are
calling are actually committing fraud. That means the 60 percent who
need their Social Security checks are waiting in line.”
This
claim that 40 percent of calls to the Social Security office being
fraudulent — being used to justify efforts by DOGE to shut down phone
customer service for beneficiaries, which could lead to millions of
people having to drive to another town to receive in-person help at a
physical office — is outrageously wrong, Kessler wrote.
"As
for Vance’s claim that 40 percent of the people who are calling Social
Security are committing fraud, that is an absurdity on its face — the
kind of twisted logic that turns up at the end of a long game of
telephone tag," wrote Kessler. "Vance echoed a statement made by
billionaire Elon Musk, when he was campaigning on behalf of a
conservative judicial candidate in Wisconsin on March 30. Like Vance,
Musk said 40 percent of the calls to Social Security were fraudulent."
He's

have often had no security detail at all, NBC News reported.

week, the agency put out a call for agents willing to sign up to
abandon their ordinary duties and protect Deputy Director Dan Bongino 24
hours a day for month-long stints, unnamed FBI officials told NBC.

it’s typical for FBI directors to have a security team made up of
agents, deputy directors have typically not had one. Former and current
officials told NBC that Bongino’s predecessor, Paul Abbate, was only
assigned one agent for protection. He carried a service weapon and only
had a full detail when he traveled overseas.
But Paul Abbate wasn't a weak sister the way little girl Dan is.

Republicans
are growing restless and frustrated over President Donald Trump's
escalating trade war — and some strategists are warning he's set to
trigger a dangerous backlash, Politico reported on Tuesday.
Trump's
"Liberation Day" tariffs, dubbed a "reciprocal" scheme even though the
tariffs are in most cases far higher than those imposed on U.S. products
by foreign countries, impose duties of 10 to 49 percent on virtually
all foreign goods. The list of tariffs even singles out remote,
uninhabited volcanic islands near Antarctica that have no trade with the
U.S.
The result has been a
panicked selloff in the stock market and forecasts of a likely imminent
recession — which, GOP officials say, are not what their voters wanted.
The
president "won in November because many voters saw him as an antidote
to their economic malaise; as a candidate, he frequently promised to
lower Americans’ everyday prices," noted Adam Cancryn and Myah Ward.
"But
as president, he has chosen instead to plunge the country into fresh
financial chaos, while insisting the market losses as a result of his
tariffs are 'medicine' Americans need to take."
Whit
Ayres, who polls for Republicans, said, “Trump was elected in part to
lower inflation and juice the economy. Higher prices and slower growth
are exactly the opposite of what Americans voted for.”
"The
economic turbulence unleashed by the White House’s blanket tariffs is
sending shudders through every level of the Republican Party. Alarmed
officials worry the administration is driving the U.S. toward recession
and dooming the GOP’s midterm chances — yet they have no idea what will
convince Trump to change course," noted the report.
Who's
fault is the tanking economy? We all know and so does Chump. But if

CNN's
Stephen Collinson believes that there is no easy way out for President
Donald Trump when it comes to his trade war — and that means the
American economy is headed for what he describes as an "ugly endgame."
In
his latest analysis, Collinson makes the case that Trump has backed
himself into a corner by refusing to budge from his trade wars with
nearly every nation on the planet, including a remote island that is
primarily populated by penguins.
"A president who
believes he enjoys almost absolute power and who has torn off the
constraints of his first term is not looking for an off-ramp," Collinson
warns. "And his zeal for confrontation and sense of mission may also
have implications beyond the economy and for other policy areas — such
as his expansionist designs on Greenland and Canada, his mass migrant
deportations and cultural warfare."
Collinson
thinks that it will be hard for America's trade partners to actually
negotiate with Trump give his beliefs about basic economic concepts such
as trade deficits, which Trump has insisted that other countries
eliminate as a precondition before he'll consider lowering his tariffs.

aside any concerns regarding the public fight between Tesla CEO Elon
Musk and top Trump trade advisor Peter Navarro.

will be boys, and we will let their public sparring continue."

discussed the tariffs and the claims and counter claims Chump and the
administration keep putting out there.
Small-business owners are already feeling the effects of Donald
Trump’s tariff scheme that he claims will boost American manufacturing
and bring jobs back to the United States.
Many have flocked to Reddit to share their struggles, desperately searching for advice amid fears of losing their livelihoods.
“Any
other small shops trying to figure out what to do? I’ve single handedly
created and ran my small business for almost three years. I sell bamboo
clothing and bedding, and now with this tariff I’ll likely have to
close,” one user posted on the r/smallbusiness board.
On “Liberation Day,”
Trump implemented tariffs ranging from 10 percent to 60 percent on
imports from about 90 countries, which he claims will eliminate the
trade deficit between the U.S. and other countries (economic experts
have scoffed
at the far-fetched assertion). China will see the worst of it all; the
country faces a new 34 percent reciprocal tariff, along with a
previously announced 20 percent tariff. On Monday, Trump threatened to increase the rate to 104 percent if China did not rescind its retaliatory tariffs.
One
Reddit user received an email from their Chinese distributor informing
them that it will no longer distribute their products in the United
States. “I planned for so many different things over the past few months
which should allow us to weather the storm for the next year or so, but
I didn’t expect our largest supplier to back out of the U.S. market
entirely,” the user wrote.
He

struggling to stay open and, if they can't, that's even more people

Senator Maria Cantwell's office issued the following:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria
Cantwell (D-WA), senior member of the Senate Finance Committee and
ranking member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and
Transportation, pressed United States Trade Representative Jamieson
Greer on the administration’s slapdash implementation of sweeping
tariffs without sufficient input or accountability to Congress.
Prior to President Trump’s implementation of the tariffs, there was
no formal bipartisan briefing of Congress detailing how the tariff rates
were set, analyzing on how they might impact the American economy, or
even communicating what the White House was aiming to accomplish.
“What did the Trump administration do to prepare [Congress],
to communicate with us, to tell us about findings as it relates to these
emergency orders by the President?” Sen. Cantwell asked during a hearing today in the Senate Finance Committee.
“Our staff, the USTR staff, in the in the past two months
that we've been in office, have had over 200 formal engagements with
staff on the Hill,” Greer responded. “We also had the
President issue very publicly his America First trade policy memorandum,
which specifically said that he was going to look into the trade
deficit and the possibilities of tariffs.”
Cantwell responded: “So, we've wreaked havoc on the economy
by having one of the largest drops of the market. We have people's
401(k)s, in panic. We have retail organizations, like the retail
industry, National Retail Federation, American Apparel Industry, Outdoor
Association, Consumer Technology, Computer and Communications Industry,
Main Street Alliance, Small Business Majority, all anxious, asking us
to do something. And you're saying, ‘Well, some people have passed some
notes to staff.’”
She continued: “We should be building alliances as a way to
counter China, but the alliance building process now will become harder,
and people are going to wonder, well, is the United States going to
pull another fast one again and just wreak havoc?”
Greer said the United States has seen “many times in past decades
when we have had real robust trade disputes with our partners.”
Sen. Cantwell responded: “I'm for trade. I represent trade. I
represent a trade economy. I represent the success of what innovation
and trade gets you. But you're coming here this morning with this, not
only tanking of the market and 401(k)s, now you're coming here telling
me that tariff is the tool. And I'm telling you -- innovation is the
tool!”
In addition, a bipartisan group has introduced a companion version of
Sen. Cantwell’s legislation in the House of Representatives, also
cosponsored by equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats.
The bill restores Congress’ authority and responsibility over tariffs
as outlined in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution by placing the
following limits on the president’s power to impose tariffs:
To enact a new tariff, the president must notify Congress of the imposition of (or increase in) the tariff within 48 hours.
The Congressional notification must include an explanation of the president’s reasoning for imposing or raising the tariff, and
Provide analysis of potential impact on American businesses and consumers.
Within 60 days, Congress must pass a joint resolution of approval on
the new tariff, otherwise all new tariffs on imports expire after that
deadline.
Under the bill, Congress has the ability to end tariffs at any time by passing a resolution of disapproval.
Anti-dumping and countervailing duties are excluded.
For the past three months, President Trump has been sowing economic
chaos across the country with unpredictable and ever-changing tariff
announcements. His back-and-forth announcements and actions, which have
whipsawed American businesses and consumers, as well as close neighbors
and allies, include:
On January 31 – citing punishment for failing to crack down on fentanyl trafficking -- the Trump administration announced plans to
impose a 25% tax on many goods imported into the U.S. from Canada and
Mexico and a 10% tax on goods imported from China, then abruptly
postponed those tariffs.
In February, he doubled down, announcing an additional 25% tax on all steel and aluminum imports.
At 12:01 a.m. ET on March 4, President Trump’s long-promised 25%
tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada and 10% tariff increase on goods
from China took effect, causing stock prices in the United States to plummet.
Then, on March 5, he announced that automobiles from Canada and Mexico would be exempt from his tariffs for one month.
The morning of March 6, he announced that he would suspend the
tariffs for some products from Mexico. Then, later that same afternoon,
he announced he was suspending most new tariffs on products from both
Mexico and Canada until April 2.
On March 11, Trump threatened to double tariffs on Canadian steel
and aluminum – increasing them to 50% – before reversing himself later
the same day.
On March 13, he threatened 200% tariffs on alcoholic products from the European Union, including all wine and Champagne.
On March 27, he announced plans to impose a 25% tax on all imported
sedans, SUVs, crossovers, minivans, cargo vans, and light trucks, as
well as some auto parts, beginning on April 2.
On April 2, he announced a “National Economic Emergency,” and signed
an executive order declaring a 10% minimum baseline tariff on all
countries as well as additional tariffs on nearly 60 countries.
On April 7, he threatened to impose an additional 50% tariff on China.

stopped by CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday, taking a moment to
criticize former running mate Kamala Harris over comments she made last
week.
Speaking at the Leading Women Defined
Summit in California on Thursday, Harris played the role of an
in-the-know adviser whose advice wasn't heeded.
“There
were many things that we knew would happen. I’m not here to say ‘I told
you so,‘” the former vice president said. “I swore I wasn’t going to

Speaking to Jake Tapper, Walz let
loose on the former vice president. He noted that she was the face of
the Democratic Party's massive loss, saying she should own up to the
result.

Uncommitted movement, in which DSA members played crucial roles

establishment into choosing a new candidate and backing down from a
potential VP with direct ties to the IDF and who would have ferociously
supported the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

The
far left is an embarrassment. They rush to and fro from position to

they said two months ago. They lie just like Chump because they are

On February 7, Luz Zambrano gave
birth to her second child, Alana Samantha. She hadn’t expected to do so
without her husband, Julio Zambrano Perez, by her side. But Luz went
into labor only days after US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
detained Zambrano Perez, during a routine check-in appointment. Weeks
later, the Trump administration sent him, along with 237 other
Venezuelan men, to a mega-prison in El Salvador. Luz has been left lost
and confused.
“We don’t even know what to do,” Luz tells me. “We don’t understand
what they are going to do with him. Nobody answers. Not here, not in
Venezuela, not anywhere.”
Zambrano Perez’s family says ICE misidentified him as a gang member
because of two tattoos he has: one of a rose and another of a crown.
(ICE did not respond to a request for comment.) Now, his fate is
uncertain. In the aftermath of his disappearance to a foreign country,
the asylum-seeking family—who was building their lives in a suburb of
North Carolina—has been abruptly torn apart, perhaps indefinitely. As we
speak on the phone, I can hear her infant’s cries in the background.
Luz tells me she just went to the hospital. Her two-month-old baby has the flu.
In mid-March, President Donald Trump quietly signed a proclamation
invoking the wartime Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to detain and remove,
without due process, Venezuelans accused of being members of the Tren de
Aragua gang. The administration then swiftly flew three planes to El
Salvador, prompting a judicial clash with a federal judge who
temporarily halted the deportations over whether the White House
disobeyed a court order to return on-air flights to the United States.
(On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration can resume removals under the Act.)
As our reporting
revealed, many of the men dispatched to El Salvador without any notice
appear to have been plucked by the US government because of their
tattoos—despite the fact that they had no proven ties to the group. An
analysis by CBS News failed
to find criminal records for 179—or 75 percent—of the Venezuelans. One
man whose loved ones we spoke with, Neri Alvarado Borges, has an autism
awareness tattoo for his 15-year-old brother. Another is a makeup artist whose tattoos on his wrists depict a crown and the words “Mom” and “Dad’ in English.
The Trump White House has admitted
in court filings to have wrongfully sent another man, Kilmar Abrego
Garcia, to El Salvador even though he had been granted protection from
deportation to his native country by an immigration judge. Still, the
administration claims US courts can’t compel them to bring the Maryland
father of three back to the United States. During a district court
hearing last week, a Justice Department attorney, who has since been placed
on leave, acknowledged Abrego Garcia shouldn’t have been removed,
saying the government’s “absence of evidence speaks for itself.”
Some
of us were focused in the lead up to the election. Here we repeatedly
made the point that the deportations Chump was bragging he would do if
elected would (a) lead to profiling, (b) snap up US citizens by mistake
and (c) wrongfully deport immigrants who had committed no crimes. Zac
and Cody were clearly off somewhere getting stoned. Unable to do the
work, they refuse to do it now.

Sunkara whose title is "president' because, you know, lies. Katty
won't release her title as publisher and the rag already had an editor
so the Marxist was named "president." DD Guttenplan is editor and
little Don David Guttenplan is a Socialist.
Once
upon a time, THE NATION was a magazine that boasted of having
Democratic writers. These days it gets fringier and fringier which is
why the bi-monthly periodical is now a monthly periodical and soon to

Donald Trump's approval rating has turned negative in a new poll
conducted by his campaign pollster Tony Fabrizio for The Wall Street
Journal.
Just 46 percent of people approval of
Trump's overall job performance, while 51 percent disapprove, according
to the poll, which Fabrizio conducted with Democratic pollster John
Anzalone.
Presidential approval ratings provide insights into how the public believes the president is performing.
A
shift in Trump's numbers could influence support from Republican
lawmakers, affect his ability to push through his agenda and shape the
political landscape, heading into the midterm election cycle.

President
Donald Trump is trying to get the military parade his “generals”
blocked him from having during his first term, reportedly planning to
spend millions of taxpayer money to honor himself on his 79th birthday
in June.
In 2018, “Trump angrily and
reluctantly canceled his plans after military leaders said it would cost
$92 million and after District officials complained that heavy military
equipment—tanks and planes included—would tear up the roadways and cost
$21 million just for parade public safety,” Washington City Paper reports. “Now, second-term Trump apparently won’t be denied.”
Citing
a D.C. source, the paper reports that “Trump has commandeered Saturday,
June 14—the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and, as it happens,
Trump’s 79th birthday—for his military parade. It would stretch almost
four miles from the Pentagon in Arlington to the White House, according
to the source, who stressed that local officials are just learning of
it.”
The
erectile dysfunctional illiterate just refused to be present at Dover on Friday
when the bodies of
Americans Pfc Dante D. Taitano, Staff Sgt Edvin F. Franco, Staff Sgt
Jose Duenez Jr., and Staff Sgt Troy S. Knutson-Collins returned to the

I know you live on top of an economic house of cards. But what do you
think the stupid people who still believe in you are going to think when

have the money to pay your own bills? As William S. Becker (THE HILL) points out, "Much
of what we know about President Trump’s leadership is revealed by his
personal behavior. For example, during his first month in office, while
Elon Musk conducted mass firings and canceled government services to cut
spending, Trump spent nearly $10.7 million of taxpayer money to play
golf at his properties."
It's
very important to the Trump administration that the government spend
huge taxpayer dollars on ads that repeatedly thank Donald Trump while
warning immigrants to leave or stay out of America.
There
was such "an unusual and compelling urgency" for this propaganda
campaign that it could not be subject to competitive bidding rules,
Trump officials say. Records show they also exempted the ads from review
by Elon Musk's so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Trump's
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has budgeted up to $200 million
for these ads so far. Speaking at a Conservative Political Action
Conference dinner in February, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem
said the ad campaign was Trump's idea, and that he specifically asked
her to thank him in the ads, which she does. "I want you to thank me. I
want you to thank me for closing the border," she says Trump told her.
As
the Associated Press has reported, the Trump administration quietly
bypassed a competitive bidding process as it selected contractors for
the lucrative ad campaign, because the president declared a national
emergency at the southern border upon taking office.
"To
aid in responding to this emergency, DHS requires an immediate domestic
and international campaign to direct illegal aliens within the U.S. and
its territories to leave immediately, and to discourage illegal
immigration into the country," Trump officials wrote. They claimed that
"any delay" in starting the ad campaign "will allow illegal border
crossings to continue to rise."
Some
presidents want to help the American people, Chump just wants to help
himself to all the tax dollars he can while pretending to be fiscally
conservative. It's why the Senate is having to fight right now to

Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) to protect against reductions in Social Security
Administration customer service.
President Trump, Elon Musk, and DOGE have gutted the Social Security
Administration in recent weeks, creating chaos and threatening
Americans’ benefits. Last month, the Social Security Administration
announced plans to cut about 7,000 employees, or about 12% of its
workforce. 78% of these employees were working in field offices,
directly serving Social Security recipients. SSA is reportedly planning to enact even deeper cuts to the agency’s workforce, crippling Americans’ ability to access their benefits.
DOGE has also tried to significantly limit Americans’ access to
services by shutting down regional offices and requiring new and
existing beneficiaries to go in-person or online for a variety of
services, including applying for benefits and changing direct deposit
and other banking information—posing a challenge to many seniors who
rely on benefits.
Senate Democrats’ Social Security War Room is
a coordinated effort to fight back against the Trump administration’s
attack on Americans’ Social Security. The War Room coordinates messaging
across the Senate Democratic Caucus and external stakeholders;

even so, you -- high schoolers and college students -- moved the needle
more than anyone ever did in this country before your generation. So be
proud of that, be proud of what you accomplished in that regard.

A
number of e-mails coming in saying that Hands Off! is a DSA project.
No. They are one part of it, but there are many other components. You
saw them leafleting last Saturday? I hope you saw the litter that

President
Donald Trump said that he hopes to erase the U.S. trade deficit with
other countries—but anyone who understands economics knows that wouldn’t
be a good thing.
“I spoke to a lot of
leaders—European, Asian—from all over the world. They are dying to make a
deal, but I said, ‘We’re not gonna have deficits with your country,’”
Trump told reporters on board Air Force One Sunday. “We’re not gonna do
that, because to me a deficit is a loss. We’re gonna have surpluses or
at worst we’re gonna be breaking even.”
The
economy is falling apart before our eyes. And as Stephanie Ruhle noted
in the video at the top of the snapshot, business leaders who would
normally be very vocal are instead rolling over. On her show last
night, MSNBC's THE 11TH HOUR WITH STEPHANIE RUHLE (which MSNBC has yet
to post). she had on one real leader being destroyed by the tariffs who
was taking the matter to court.

"A small business in Florida has sued the Trump administration,
accusing the president of violating the Constitution by imposing tariffs
on all imports from China. The company says Trump improperly bypassed
Congress using a statute that "does not even mention tariffs, nor does
it say anything else suggesting it authorizes presidents to tax American
citizens." Issie Lapowsky (FAST COMPANY) reports:
Business
owners around the world are still reeling from the sky-high,
globe-spanning tariffs President Donald Trump has announced since taking
office. Last week, Emily Ley became the first to take her concerns to
court.
In a lawsuit
filed in a federal court in Florida last Thursday, lawyers representing
Ley, a small business owner in Pensacola, argued that Trump’s tariffs
on China are “unlawful,” “unconstitutional,” and risk having devastating
consequences on businesses like Simplified, the 10-employee stationery
company Ley founded in 2008. The suit, which is the first known case to
challenge Trump’s tariffs, has, almost overnight, turned Ley into the
very public face of a high stakes legal battle that could have sweeping
consequences for the global economy.
“My company is like my fourth child,” Ley tells Fast Company. “I’m going to go down swinging if this is the end of it.”
It
was never Ley’s intention to file a suit. A few weeks ago, as Trump’s
tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada went into effect, and the White
House warned of more to come, Ley simply wanted to give people a better
understanding of the tangible impact that rising tariffs would have on a
small business like hers, which sells, among other things, day planners
that are made in China. “I was seeing so much misinformation and
misunderstanding about who pays the tariffs, and what they’re for,” Ley
says. “I just felt like I needed to share a small business perspective
that came from a real person, a real human.”
“These unlawfully implemented tariffs cause harm to American businesses,
American jobs, and American consumers, and will be the end of many
American dreams,” Ley said in a post on social media the day after Trump announced a series of steep tariffs on nations around the word that sent global stock markets plunging.
The suit specifically targets Trump’s 20 percent tariff on goods from
China he imposed early last month. Ley’s Florida-based small business
purchases products from China to sell, including planners.
The
lawsuit is challenging Trump’s use of the International Emergency
Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA), which requires extensive
investigations before sanctions can be imposed. Trump has used opioid
trafficking from China as a reason for the “emergency” tariffs against
the country.
Ley told Stephanie that it was
unnerving bringing the lawsuit but that she has to save her employees
jobs and her business. She's not hiding behind a Tweet of praise.
She's standing up. It's appalling that more are not doing the same.
How bad does it have to get for business leaders to find their voices? Harry Enten and Matt Egan (CNN) note, "The
S&P 500 had lost 15% of its value since Inauguration Day as of
Sunday night. And that doesn’t even count the massive losses set for
Monday’s opening bell." And the political storm clouds begin to drift
over the White House. Amethyst Martinez (THE DAILY BEAST) reports:
Republicans are starting to back away from the president after major fallout from his new tariffs.
MAGA
favorite Ted Cruz over the weekend spoke out about the devastating
effects of Donald Trump’s disruptive economic policies, predicting a
“bloodbath” in next year’s midterms if the current market collapse
worsens.
“If he leaves
them in place and we just have constant tariffs, that is a massive tax
increase on the American people,” Cruz dished on his podcast, Verdict.
“I worry there are voices within the administration that want to see
these tariffs continue forever and ever and ever.”
Chump
has no idea what he's doing. He never has. As Rachel Maddow detailed
last week on MSNBC, Chump's financial guru is a liar that Don Junior
found by chance on AMAZON -- six minutes and thirty-four seconds into the video below.
Donald
Trump made clear on Monday that he is not pulling the reins on his
potentially recession-inducing tariff plans - or giving up control of
implementing them. As markets went on a roller coaster, the president
threatened to veto proposed bipartisan legislation that would seek to
limit his tariff authority.
In
a Monday statement, the White House wrote that if Congress passed a
bill submitted by Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) and Chuck Grassley
(R-Iowa) - which now has support from at least six other Republican
senators - Trump "would veto the bill."
"The
Trump Administration is enacting policies to put America First on trade
by opening new market access for U.S. farmers, raising wages for
American workers, pursuing reciprocal trade, and reshoring the
manufacturing essential to our national security. Tariffs are a critical
component of that policy and this legislation runs contrary to those
aims," the White House wrote. "If passed, this bill would dangerously
hamper the President's authority and duty to determine our foreign
policy and protect our national security."
The
legislation, titled the "Trade Review Act of 2025," would require the
president to notify Congress within 48 hours of implementing a tariff,
while offering an explanation justifying the necessity of the tariff and
an economic impact analysis. Congress would be required to approve the
tariff within a 60-day period in order to make it permanent, and could
repeal it with a resolution of disapproval.
Offered
a chance to respond, Rep. Scholten, who had been smiling and shaking
her head, tuned to her colleague and explained, "A jobs report that that
came out before the market started crashing and Americans lost $4
trillion in savings."
"You can't ignore, you
know, you're talking about giving subsidies to farmers because you know
how bad this is going to be," she continued. "You know America is losing
under Trump. The American people are losing under Trump."
Again,
is the mutiny beginning? Are Republicans in office finally starting to
see the troublesome signs that others have noticed for weeks and weeks
and weeks?
Meanwhile, the only thing plunging faster than Chump's approval rating and the US economy would be Aline Musk's TESLA stocks. Lauren Lewis (THE DAILY BEAST) explains:
Tesla’s
stock has plummeted to a new low only three weeks after Commerce
Secretary Howard Lutnick advised Americans to buy it because “it’ll
never be this cheap again.”
Elon Musk’s
company’s shares dropped 10 per cent in early trading on Monday,
leveling out at $214.80 down from $235.86 when Lutnick made his remarks.
Lutnick,
speaking in an interview with Fox News on March 19, called Tesla’s CEO,
Elon Musk, “probably the best person to bet on I’ve ever met.”
“I
think if you want to learn something on this show tonight, it’s buy
Tesla,” Lutnick told host Jesse Watters, urging viewers to put their
money in the company of a Trump administration employee.
“It’s unbelievable that this guy’s stock is this cheap.”
The
car manufacturer has seen its shares plummet over 40 percent since the
beginning of the year in reaction to Musk’s role in the Trump
administration and concerns that Tesla is losing ground to competitors
in the electric vehicle market.
He has destroyed Tesla. People aren't buying them and those that have them are getting rid of them.
This is no hocus-pocus: Bette Midler is the latest celebrity to sell her Tesla.
The
veteran star of stage and screen has become the latest public figure to
offload her Tesla over CEO Elon Musk's politics and support for
President Donald Trump's administration.
"What a
joyful day! I sold my (gulp) Tesla! No longer do I have to drive a
symbol of racism, greed and ignorance! Life is suddenly so much
better!!" Midler wrote in a recent Instagram post.
Alien
is said to have last a fortune and the tariffs aren't helping. He and
the administration are now sniping at one another in public.

always more money for billionaires, but it’s tough times for everyone

The budget blueprint Senate Republicans unveiled this week sets
Republicans up to dole out more than $5.3 trillion in new tax cuts that
will disproportionately benefit billionaires, the ultra-rich, and
largest corporations. But to help allow themselves to make the tax cuts
permanent without making even more devastating cuts to, for example,
Americans’ health care under the Senate’s strict budget reconciliation
rules, Republicans want to use a gimmick known as “current policy baseline”
to pretend that extending $3.8 trillion in tax cuts won’t cost the
country a cent—and to try to make them permanent in clear violation of
the longstanding Byrd rule that enforces reconciliation in the Senate.
The budget resolution also sets Republicans up to make massive cuts to
Medicaid, nutrition assistance, and other critical domestic programs.
Today, budget experts from across the political spectrum wrote in part,
“Using fabricated scorekeeping renders much of the Congressional Budget
Act pointless and acts to evade responsibility for the resulting bottom
line numbers. Congress cannot budget responsibly if it refuses to ever
consider what policies actually cost. There is no point of budget
enforcement if Congress gets to pick the score it wants.”
The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget issued a new report today that made plain Republicans’ budget resolution would enable unprecedented deficit increases. It would:
Equal more than all spending programs except for the Social Security retirement program, Medicare, Medicaid, and defense.
Add as much to deficits as the American Rescue Plan, Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, CARES Act, and bipartisan infrastructure law combined,
including more than three times as much as the American Rescue Plan and
over 14 times as much as the bipartisan infrastructure law.
Cost as much or more than a large social welfare program,
specifically five times as much as all Affordable Care Act health
insurance subsidies, 4.5 times as much as Medicare Part D, three
times as much as the Social Security Disability Insurance program, and
more than three-quarters of all federal Medicaid spending.
