I'm not a Harry Reid fan. He's a US senator and also the leader of the Senate (Senate Majority Leader). I really don't care for him. But I'm rolling my eyes over the latest attacks on him. The Huffing Post headlines their piece "The Moral Cowardice of Harry Reid" -- no link to that trash. Here are some stories on the same topic:
Los Angeles Times (blog) - 1 hour ago
Caving to the demands of his Republican Senate opponent, incumbent Nevada Democrat Harry Reid today broke with President Obama, saying the planned Ground ...
44: Harry Reid -- Build mosque 'someplace else' Washington Post
So he thinks the mosque should go somewhere else and he's a 'coward' and, according to LAT, he's 'caved' to Republican 'demands'? Maybe he just doesn't agree with Obama (whatever Obama thinks today -- he's flip-flopped repeatedly)?
Did anyone consider that?
And the bulk of the people surveyed say the mosque shouldn't go on Ground Zero. So let's stop attacking Harry Reid as somehow out of step on this issue.
That's just crazy. (What is my opinion? I don't live in NYC. I'll leave it to people who do to decide.)
At least the Las Vegas Review-Journal is happy (and Nevada is Reid's home state).
Again, I'm not a Harry Reid fan. And I gripe about a number of things he's done. But this seems a bit over the top even to me. He disagreed. He said so. He does have that right. And he's not out of the step with the public. If the polling numbers were reversed, I could understand the shock. But the ones attacking him hold a minority opinion and seem to think it's a majority one. Nothing wrong with holding a minority opinion but don't be surprised when everyone doesn't agree with us when we are in the minority. That's what it means to be in the minority.
I never thought I'd have to defend Harry Reid. But, again, I don't think he's being treated fairly.
