Okay, first up. The Simpsons last night. What the hell was that?
Worst episode ever, as Comic Book Guy would say. "Elementary School Musical" was awful in every way. Marge did nothing. Homer and Bart went off an 'adventure' -- something that's taken place way too often. In this one, it was a trial at the Hauge -- of Krusty the Clown. It was boring, it was stupid and it was insulting. But the musical?
That was Lisa's plot. And I had hopes that it would be funny. It was nothing.
It was singing and dancing. And boring. Then Lisa goes back to Springfield (it's a summer camp) but decides she wants to go to an NYC like city near Springfield. And she's there and nothing happens to her except she's cold and then Marge comes to get her.
Lisa trying to make it could have provided a lot of laughs. That didn't happen. She had two scenes before Marge arrived.
It was embarrassing and so bad -- the whole episode -- that it played like a parody of the show. If this is what we can expect from the show this year, it may just end up being the show's last.
Okay, this is from Suzanne Goldenberg (Guardian):
The Obama administration lost the public trust and may have sabotaged clean-up operations in the Gulf of Mexico by grossly underestimating the amount of oil gushing from BP's broken Macondo well, according to a White House commission appointed to investigate the spill.
In a scathing critique of the administration's handling of the disaster, the two co-chairs of the commission yesterday said government officials made a serious blunder by releasing early estimates of the spill that were about 60 times too low.
"It's a little bit like Custer underestimating the number of Indians on the other side of the hill and paying a price for that," Bob Graham, a former Democratic senator from Florida, told reporters. The Gulf Disaster was a game changer. It changed everything. That's why people are wrong to look at 2002 or 1994. The Gulf Disaster is on par with Hurricane Katrina and so damaging that recovery seems unlikely for Barack.
