I love that. Especially the band-aid above the lip. :D
Poor Barry hurt his lip on Friday.
I had the longest day. And I hate public transportation. Sorry. I'm dyslexic. And I don't know this system. (I do know the one at home.) So I get on the bus thinking I'll do my part for the environment and ready to put up with the thirty minute ride that would be about ten if I just drove it. But there's a detour and I don't know the road we're on or where to get off and next thing you know I'm headed out of town and finally have to just stay on until we get back to where I got on.
But I tried.
I did have my laptop with me. But only ten minutes of a charge. I was on the bus for 2 hours and 15 minutes. So that was no good. I used my headphones to listen to music and news on my cell phone.
And cursed the whole time about all the time wasted. For trying to do the right thing, no less.
The big news story was the student (high school) in Wisconsin who was holding other teachers and students hostage. That quickly became the entire focus on news radio. And it is a real story and was actually happening so that's understandable.
I had a few thoughts on Barack's latest attack on workers (pay freeze for all federal workers for two years) but my mom's going to cover that tomorrow (we were talking about it on the phone) so I'll leave that alone.
Okay, Third. Dallas and the following worked on it:
The Third Estate Sunday Review's Jim, Dona, Ty, Jess and Ava,
Rebecca of Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude,
Betty of Thomas Friedman Is a Great Man,
C.I. of The Common Ills and The Third Estate Sunday Review,
Kat of Kat's Korner (of The Common Ills),
Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix,
Mike of Mikey Likes It!,
Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz),
Ruth of Ruth's Report,
Wally of The Daily Jot,
Trina of Trina's Kitchen,
Marcia of SICKOFITRDLZ,
Stan of Oh Boy It Never Ends,
Isaiah of The World Today Just Nuts,
and Ann of Ann's Mega Dub.
And we managed to get done at a reasonable time. Which is probably why I ended up losing time on Monday due to the bus nightmare. Okay, here's what we came up with for content:
- Truest statement of the week
- A note to our readers
- Editorial: A teachable moment
- TV: The difference between 'special' and 'filler'
- Netflix plan that works for you
- Radio moment
- Jim's World
- A minor classic that could have been major
And that's it except did anyone catch The Simpsons? I watched and I need to watch it again, I guess, because that really felt like the all-time worst episode (new episode that aired Sunday night). I'll try to watch it on Hulu and then weigh in tomorrow. Hopefully it's me and I just missed some points last night. Otherwise, that show really needs to go. Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
