The weekend. Yea!!!! Reader Paul had an idea that will sort of work but sort of won't and I'll get to that in a second.
First off, idiot of the week.
This was a tough one. There were so many strong nominees. So many fools in the running.
But the winner?
The Bradley Manning Support Network.
Bradley Manning, as you should know, is being held by the US government. He has been tortured, he has been held for over a year.
The US government insists he is the one who supplied WikiLeaks with various State Dept cables. They also insist that this did great damage to the US and its national security.
The Bradley Manning Support Network is supposed to be an organization generating support for Bradley.
Instead, as C.I. pointed out again Thursday, those assholes repeatedly convict Bradley on their own pages, thereby doing the government's job for it.
Michael Moore is a fat idiot and has been one for some time. A minor nobody whose life would still be in the toilet (where it belongs) were it not for his anti-Bush film and our desire on the left for such a film in 2004. Moore is the idiot who directed the propaganda film Roger & Me which even The New Yorker noted couldn't stand up to a fact check. He then went on to work at Mother Jones where he terrorized and decimated the staff but got a big bucks pay out to leave. Then he went to work for Rupert Murduch and had a great working relationship but couldn't deliver ratings.
Michael Moore is a dumb ass. In 2003, he was proposing the Democratic Party run possible closeted lesbian Oprah for president. That would ahve gone well, right?
An unbridled ego, one responsible for an African school for girls being opened -- a school where the girls were sexually assaulted. A diva who insists that a closed store be opened for her to shop at. A talker never known as a thinker.
You think the GOP wouldn't have loved a candidate like Oprah?
Moore's an idiot. The Nation magazine is like a sex-obsesed, horny teen that can only think of one thing (for The Nation' the wet panties and pre-cum soaked bvds are for Barack) so don't ever count on them having an actual thought.
But they had a roundtable. Moore blathered on that he saluted Bradley for the Arab Spring because if Bradly hadn't leaked the stolen documents . . .
Yeah, dumb ass, fat ass Michael Moore's going around insisting Bradley's guilty.
Bradley hasn't entered a plea. But fat ass Michael Moore's convicting him. Can someone tell Michael Moore to shut his pie hole?
So that was bad. It was stupid. Moore's an idiot.
But even more stupid was for the Bradley Manning Support Network to do a post quoting Michael's 'praise' for Bradley.
Kevin Zeese and all of them, stupid little whores. They can't write about Bradley. They're D-list celebrity whores. "What minor celebrity said something! Quote him! Quote him!!!!"
And that's what they do. While pimping Occupy Wall Street.
And ignoring Bradley. Over and over.
Now for Paul's suggestion. Since I've dumped Chuck (after it was decided not to stream the show), how about I grab the spy show Nikita?
Great idea, Paul, except for one thing.
The CW show just went on hiatus until January 6th!
So here's what I'm going to do. Grab the most recent episode at Hulu ("Fair Trade") and then catch a few from earlier in the season and blog about those (in the coming weeks) and then grab the one that aired Friday night (not available on Hulu until next Saturday) and hopefully get us ready for the return on the 6th of January.
So emerging myself in this show for the first time with "Fair Trade," I went in knowing this was based on the Nikita series which has already been (first) the French film La Femme Nikita, then the American film Point of No Return starring Bridget Fonda, then the USA series La Femme Nikita. The CW series is in its second season.
Nikita broke off from the US government with a lot of explosions and some young Nikita like thing at the end of last seasons (I saw parts of that episode while hanging out with my friend Tony who loves the show, he'll be thrilled to know I'm covering it now). So that young Nikita-type is still around on the show.
Nikita let her live and sent her off. And she shows up at a NYC dive where Russian women are being used for sex. NW (Nikita wanna be) calls 9-11 and pretends to be a wife of some guy and does a tip. ICE bust the place. Including NW. They're hauled off and to be sent back to Russia, to a crime family in Russia. NW takes out ICE, gives the Russian women money and sets them free on what looked like the Brooklyn Bridge.
No, I didn't make any of that up.
Stories like that are part of the reason this show isn't taken as seriously as it should be.
The main story was Nikita and Seymour. Shane West's character is Europe. I don't know his name yet, sorry. (Max?) But it's just Nikita and Seymour stateside. They're trying to bring down the secret US government which is a military industrial complex that Nikita once worked for. More secretive than the CIA, according to Tony.
So there's a small group (believe 5 people) who control it all. They know a female senator's part of the cabal. They don't know all the others. They have a black box that outlines some of what might go down in the future, a sort of planner for the cabal. The government wants that back.
Nikita wants to find out who is in the top 5. So she finds out in the black box that the cabal has stolen African relief money and put it in a secret bank account. She grabs that money and this forces the cabal to have a secret meeting.
They choose the basement of a hotel where a foreign press club is meeting up-top. That way there will be tremendous security.
Nikita attempts to find a way in while Seymour -- the computer guy -- stays in a car on a side street communicating with her, chaning their wifi signals and other things.
She sees a florist and knocks the woman out and enters the building posing as her. Seymour tells her how to get to a certain air duct that will take her to the basement.
The Senator's accompanied by "boy scout" (Nikita's term for him -- they went up against each other before -- I didn't see that, Nikita explained it in the episode). He spots Nikita and tries to catch her but she's too fast.
She's in the duct. He's back with the senator.
Back at Cabal headquarters, this woman who hates Nikita (but let her escape in that season cliffhanger, I think) is trying to find the signal that she knows Seymour and Nikita are communicating on. Finally one of her workers finds it.
They dispatch for Seymour.
That woman tells boy scout they've found a signal and Nikita must be in the hotel. The meeting is called out and the boy scout starts hustling the senator out. Nikita hears the meeting is cancelled and declares an emergency extraction to Seymour. He's to get the car to the agreed upon point. Nikita hurries through the lobby.
Seymour is about to start the car when a black SUV pulls up in front of him. He knows who it is and slams the car into reverse but he's cut off from behind by another black SUV.
The senator spots Nikita in the lobby and tells Boy Scout. He pulls out his gun and goes after her. (Nikita lost her shoes -- one, she must have tossed the other -- in the air duct.) Nikita goes running out of the hotel. Boy Scout's right behind her and he gets more goons to go after her.
She runs across a street and then into a park. Boy Scout's on her heels but the others aren't as fast as him and Nikita. Three cops are buying and drinking coffee from a vendor in the park. Nikita's going to run right into them. So she moves a bit and passes kids playing basketball. She grabs their ball and throws it hard into the back of one of the cops as she passes him.
He spills his coffee, says "What the --" and turns around to see . . .
Boy scout running up with his gun.
All three police officers draw their guns on Boy Scout who has to stop.
Nikita makes it to the meeting place but no Seymour.
He's at Cabal headquarters being tortured by That Woman.
She tells him he's a computer genious and able to type 120 words a minute.
From out of nowhere, here hand comes down holding a hammer and she slams it into his right hand.
"Well, 60 words per minute now" she says -- or something similar.
Nikita calls Shane West. It's been an hour or so since Seymour was nabbed. Shane tells her she's not thinking clearly. He tells her that Seymour's still alive right now. They need to think of what they can do to get the cabal to free Seymour.
Nikita knows. Trade the black box for him.
She calls That Woman who goes to another bad guy to talk with him about the box.
Bad Guy: It's not just software. It's hardware. It's excalibur.
That Woman: You're so proud of it aren't you?
Bad Guy: You better believe it. Have you been following the news?
Protests and rioting are going on on the screen That Woman looks at.
Bad Guy: They're so angry, raging against the machine. What do you think would happen if they got even the slightest glimpse inside that box? They found out that the machine was actually a steel trap that was set for them, the 99%? You think they'd have a candlelit vigil and sing "Cumbaya"? I doubt it. They'd riot and burn the place down. People want to believe God has a plan for them. They don't want to know that anyone else does.
So the trade's agreed to.
Nikita asks for "Boy Scout."
But she's just figured out he's the Senator's son. He's in special ops. His name is Sean Pierce.
The trade eventually ends up at a parking car garage (Nikita's had a cab pick up Sean and Seymour), the sixth floor.
Nikita holds a detonating device that, if she lets go, blows the garage. She has the black box. She wants Seymour first.
Seymour's let go and scans himself with the device Nikita brought to make sure there's no tracking device on him. Nikita then tells him to go up to the roof.
Then she puts the device on the ground. And backs up. Instead of picking it up, Sean shoots the box. Why?
He tells Nikita he's not there to protect the cabal, he's there to protect his mother (the senator).
They know that backup for Sean is coming. Nikita asks him if, good boy scout, he's wearing a kevlar vest? He is. She shoots him in the chest.
He falls, she runs up as cars enter the parking garage.
He's gasping but makes it up and runs after her. He gets to the roof just as Nikita lifts off in the helicopter with Seymour.
Nikita apologizes to Seymour who had warned the plan wasn't thought out and was being forced (the hotel thing) and Seymour tells her he almost gave her up (when That Woman was about to use a tumor machine on his brain). She tells him, "But you didn't." And she leaves saying she's learned where another black box is.
Senator wants Nikita. She tells Sean she doesn't care how and he can use Nikita wanna be if he wants. He calls her on his cell phone as he walks through a building. She's still walking on the Brooklyn Bridge. She thinks he's her friend. He tells her if she gets in trouble she needs to call him immediately or someone else she trusts like Nikita. She thanks him.
And we see him grin. He's going to set her up so that she has to call Nikita and when Nikita shows up to rescue, he thinks they can grab Nikita.
Now in future posts, I'll be going over previous episodes and, the last week of December, I'll blog on the episode that aired last night.
And thank you to Paul because I really enjoyed that episode of Nikita. I'm already excited to have a good show to cover again.
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
