I'm grabbing Fringe. I'll do Nikita on Monday unless I'm really tired.
It's such a cheat, the latest episode of Fringe online ("Nothing As It Seems"). The previous episode ["A Short Story About Love" which I recapped in "I was right and Watchers are idiots (Fringe),"] ended with the Watcher telling Peter that Olivia was his Olivia.
So this episode starts with a first season flashback. Remember the Porcupine Man who, on the airplane, warns people he's changing and seeks shelter in the bathroom only to change into a porcupine and destroy the people which then leads to the plane crashing? He's back . . . on the show . . . but new to everyone but Peter who never lost his memory and Olivia who's gotten back her memory.
Olivia's taken off Fringe division and sent on 'vacation' because they don't believe her memories that she's remembering are her own. Lincoln calls Peter for help on Porcupine Man who didn't change on the airplane but instead changed after the plane landed.
Lincoln believes Olivia and Peter (about who she is, what she remembers) and she starts working on the case. They go to Porcupine Man's home (no lights, no power) and, as they search, he attacks Lincoln.
Lincoln is infected but this turns out to be good because Lincoln's infection allows Walter to figure out that they need massive amounts of fat to transform from human into these new Porcupine creatures (over 300 pounds of fat) which leads Peter, Astrid and Olivia to realize that they may be stealing fat from clinics.
Lincoln's cured by Walter and they catch the bad guy but Broyles learns that Olivia was working on the case. And you think she's in trouble when Broyles shows up but he tells here, "A Fringe Division with an Olivia Dunham is better than a Fringe Division without one."
Then we learn that a ship (looks like an oil tanker) has all these other genetically mutated people in cells on board.
It was a strange ending.
But if you're not getting why the whole thing was a cheat, they kept Peter and Olivia apart all damn season.
When the Watcher told Peter the truth, the next scene needed to be Peter and Olivia. We never got that scene, the one where they both know together that they're meant for each other. And after keeping them apart ALL DAMN SEASON the writers owed us that scene.
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
