I'm at work this morning (late in the morning) and get a text, "Who wants a new laptop? Let me know."
C.I., Wally and Cedric all had problems this morning with doing entries. C.I. was sick of the laptop she has and Wally's had a virus. (I don't know about Cedric's.) C.I. was frustrated with her laptop but she found a major virus on Wally's. So her attitude was NEW LAPTOPS!
Mine's not that old but I said "Sure." So everyone who said yes ended up going to the stores this evening and picking up their new laptops. (Not everybody. Those at C.I.'s or Ava's next door -- California -- had delivery. That wasn't an option for a lot of us due to being at work and not sure when they'd be delivered.) So I love it. This one's HP. It's got a bigger screen (two inches bigger) and I really love having the numbers on the right hand side. I hate having to hunt and peck to use the numbers that are at the top. I'm used to the ten key thing from the computer. I never masted typing in school.
So this is my maiden voyage/post on the new laptop. It's already fun. (I'm giving my oldest brother my old laptop. It's still very good and practically new and he needs one.)
I did call Elaine and ask, "Am I being greedy?" She said no, to go for it because C.I. was buying herself a new one and the more she (C.I.) bought, the less she'd feel guilty for buying a new one. (C.I. can feel guilty when spending for herself. Never got that until Elaine was telling me on the phone. She shouldn't.) Mom didn't say yes. So C.I. called me and asked how old her laptop was?
She ended up ordering Mom a new one and I called Dad to get him to pick it up. (And since her laptop is old, I told her to tell my brother that he was getting mine. I may drive it over tomorrow while Elaine's doing her veterans group at night. Although I'm sure he won't mind if I wait until Friday when Elaine and I'll both be over.)
I'm using Amazon Cloud. I don't know if you've tried it or not. But when I buy an album on Amazon, I just put it in my Cloud now and don't bother to download it to the laptop. I always lose the discs I burn and by then I have already taken the album off my computer to free up space. So the Cloud works best for me.
It stores all my music and I can listen on my laptop or I can pull up Amazon on my iPhone and listen to my music in my cloud that way or I can log on to any computer anywhere (with internet) and pull up my cloud and listen.
I had a ton of stuff (music) still on my old laptop though. So I uploaded it to the Cloud. I'd never done that before. I had tons and tons. So it took about an hour. (56 minutes maybe.) But now I've got all that music from the laptop ready to stream and don't have to worry about that.
I need to download an Amazon Unibox. To see if the movies I've purchased are in that.
Anyway, I'm just loving my new laptop tonight.
And lazy. So let me swipe from Third:
C.I. of The Common Ills and The Third Estate Sunday Review,
Kat of Kat's Korner (of The Common Ills),
Mike of Mikey Likes It!,
Elaine of Like Maria Said Paz),
Cedric of Cedric's Big Mix,
Wally of The Daily Jot,
Trina of Trina's Kitchen,
Marcia of SICKOFITRDLZ,
That's who I mentioned. "You didn't mention Marcia!" I'm about to. Back off. :D
So Marcia calls me when she's home with her new one and I was just getting started on setting up mine so we set up our laptops together. I was so glad. Because she was like, "Woah! Look at that!" And I was too. So I got to share the excitement. (Elaine didn't get a new one because she gets a new one each year at the same time. She and Sunny both do. It's part of Elaine's practice.)
C.I. told me about this Matthis Chiroux video. If you haven't seen it yet, stream it.
"Mike, I can't stream!!!" Wait until tomorrow, I think C.I.'s planning to note it tomorrow (meaning she'll do a transcript in the snapshot). And check out other things at World Can't Wait.
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
