But I grabbed Fringe today (this is not yesterday's episode, this is a week ago, keep up). I thought Fringe was finally getting it together. I completely forgot C.I.'s warning to me about this episode awhile back, "Don't breathe easy until the end of the episode."
Tuesday, I wrote about the episode before this one. I'm going to call this "World Three." We got used to our world on Fringe and then the alternate world. After Peter gave his life to allow time to be reset at the end of last season, he ended up (this season) in a third world. So to keep this clear, I'm using Peter throughout because there's only one Peter. (And how is that? On our earth, he died as a child and Walter crossed over to World 2 and brought him back to World 1. Why doesn't a Peter exist on any other earths. OMG. Hold on for a Fringe possibility. I'll do it at the end. I think I just figured out something.)
So Olivia3 is having 'memories' of her and Peter but that never happened. The case this episode was a guy in a mental institution because he's hearing voices and he hears a man being killed. These are not imaginary voices, these are real voices. And so Olivia3, Peter and Astrid3 ask him to go off meds.
Which he does. And it turns out these are his brothers he's hearing. Walter3 sees it as similar to bees in a hive. How are they brothers? Their mothers were artificially inseminated and it was all by same sperm donor (the doctor over the program).
Meanwhile Olivia3 kisses Peter. She's remembering all these things. Walter3 tells Peter it's because of the crotaxform (however you spell the drug that Walters and Billys on all the earths injected Olivias and other children with). Because of that drug, Walter3 tells Peter Olivia is getting the memories from Peter, that it's out of her natural empathy combined with the residual effects of her childhood drugging.
Walter3 is analyzing her blood work and Olivia3 is telling Peter that these are clear feelings, that when she looks at him, she knwos him.
They get to this storage facility where the doctors files are. They get out of the car. And Olivia3 says last time she was at one of these . . . She's referring to what kicked off the series. And she talks about how the bomb (that resulted in the death of her fiancee from the contagion) was from Hong Kong. Peter stops her. He never knew where the bomb was from. In his world, they never found out. So Walter3 saying that Olivia3 was reading Peter's memories out of Olivia3's empathy is wrong. She couldn't read a memory Peter didn't have.
So then Astrid3 calls to tell them the 'bees' are about to attack. And they do. Peter and Olivia3 fight the crazies.
Astrid3 had some nice moments throughout with the kid who was hearing voices. Now that the hive is rounded up, he no longer hears voices and that bothers him and Astrid3 had a real nice scene where she reassured him that this was normal.
Walter3 is doing the blood work, remember? He finds out that Olivia3 doesn't have old traces in her system, the drug's been back in her system. She's being drugged with it currently.
Lincoln (who would be Lincoln2 since there have only been two Lincolns) and Walter3 go to confront Nina Sharp3.
After everyone's arrested, Olivia3 and Peter stop at the gas station to fill up and Olivia3 says she's thinking about how, after something like this, they'd go to one of their homes and -- Peter stops her and tells her he's thinking the same thing too. He tells her when he looks in her eyes, he knows she knows him. They kiss. Then Olivia3 has to get out to go to the bathroom but gives him another kiss before walking to the store.
Lincoln and Walter3 confront Nina3. She insists that the drugs are at the company and have not been touched. Walter3 says that can be proved easily because he and William Bell numbered the surviving doses. Nina3 says she'll just call ahead and Lincoln tells her she won't.
Peter's worried that Olivia's still not back so he goes in the store and she never came in. Where is she?
At the company, Nina3 punches in a code and then puts up her hand -- biometrics just like she said and she's the only one who can get into it. She opens the file and the drugs come out. All 20. See. She said they were there. While she and Lincoln talk, Walter3 opens one and sips.
It's potassium iodine with food coloring, he announces. Where are the drugs?
Nina3 looks nervous.
Olivia3's being told she'll be okay. She opens her eyes. Her hands and legs are zip-tied and she's in a lawn chair. In some sort of cellar, it looks like. Across from her is A Nina who is also zip-tied and the one saying Olivia3 will be okay.
So now what's happening?
Okay when I was typing I got an idea.
This is my guess. It could be right but it's mostly likely wrong.
On all the earths we've seen -- at least 3 but possibly 4, Peter's dead? Really? That makes sense? How about the "possibly 4" part? Why do I say possibly 4.
This season we showed up with World 3 and Peter surfacing in the lake. And the immediate alternate world World4 is a whole lot like World2 to World1.
How did last season end?
Peter got in the machine and the Watchers told us that it was going to wipe him out of both realities.
So that would explain why Peter would be gone from both World1 and World2.
What if Peter resurfaced not on World3 but on World1. What if Olivia's regaining the memories that the Watchers wiped out.
I wonder if that's what's been going on this season?
What if this whole time, Peter's been home and not realized it?
Here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
